The Director of Nursing for the Practical Nursing program is responsible for the administration, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Practical Nursing program.
Responsibilities
Students
- Oversee the admission, academic progression, and graduation of students.
- Evaluate student progress and competency based on program philosophy and objectives.
Faculty
- Interview and select nursing faculty who are qualified and contribute to the program and student outcomes.
- Supervise and evaluate program faculty including in-class reviews of each instructor.
- Orient new faculty to policies and procedures of the University and the program.
Program
- Provide evaluation and feedback to the program on course materials, current changes in practice, standards of practice, and student accomplishment of course and program outcomes.
- Plan and lead program Advisory Board meetings.
Professional Development
- Commit to ongoing professional development through continued education programs and academic courses.
- Ensure program faculty remain current in trends, issues, and practices in the field, as well as effective teaching strategies and assessment methods.
Qualifications
Education/Credentials
Masters degree in Nursing from an institution accredited school (either ACEN, CCNE, etc).
- Current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in the State in which the program is licensed.
Experience
- Minimum of two years of registered nursing experience.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a full-time faculty member in an approved nursing program.
- Minimum of two years full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse or advanced practice nurse.
