A leading manufacturing and distribution company is looking for an Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations and support accurate reporting. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, ERP experience, and a background in inventory, job costing, and financial statement preparation. Working collaboratively, the new team member will enhance financial operations by managing core accounting tasks and ensuring accurate reporting while supporting compliance efforts, process improvements, and team-wide initiatives.

Location: New Orleans, LA
Type of Position: Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the financial team to regularly review and reconcile financial data, ensuring timely correction of discrepancies to prevent future occurrences.
- Oversee the monthly close process and the preparation of financial reports for internal review.
- Manage and update schedules for fixed assets and prepaid accounts on a monthly basis.
- Prepare necessary journal entries, inter-company transactions, and allocation adjustments.
- Assist in the annual review and external audit process with a third-party accounting firm.
- Provide financial insights and support for various projects and decision-making as needed.
- Handle inventory reporting, including tracking manufacturing costs and investigating discrepancies.
- Oversee bank reconciliation processes for multiple entities.
- Ensure the timely submission of sales tax returns and other required reports across various jurisdictions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- 2-5 years of experience required
- Candidate must have Microsoft Word and Excel experience, excellent word processing, grammatical and proofreading skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of spreadsheets, formulas, and analysis performed with Excel
- Inventory/Job Costing experience preferred
- Candidate must be proficient with the usage of ERP systems, Traverse, and Sage100 preferred
- Ability to train, develop, supervise, and work with a team of bookkeepers and accountants
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments with competing priorities
- Analytical approach to problems with regard for detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and communicative skills
