About being our Cultural Resources Specialist
As a Cultural Resources Specialist, you will utilize your expertise for fieldwork assignments that could include archaeological survey, site recordation, testing, data recovery excavation and construction monitoring; as well as conducting record searches, preparing site record forms, daily reports, and assisting with curation related tasks.
This part-time position may require travel out of town/state, and offers potential for future cultural resource assignments. Work hours and availability vary by project and weather conditions, and night and weekend shifts may be required.
Responsibility Highlights for our Cultural Resources Specialist
- Perform archaeological field surveys, excavation, construction monitoring, and documentation in accordance with applicable local, states, and federal guidelines, and requirements
- Communicate effectively with construction crews and field staff
- Maintain written monitoring logs and provide status updates to project management
- Ability to identify cultural resources while working on construction sites and communicate resource requirements with construction personnel, including Native American monitors and tribal representatives
Minimum Qualifications to be our Cultural Resources Specialist
- Completion of a recognized archaeological field school, preferably in WA
- Must have a valid driver's license and a clean record (no major/repeated violations in the past five years).
- Daily travel to job sites required, including remote, rugged terrain where 4x4 driving may be necessary.
- Ability to independently perform extended fieldwork in rugged and potentially adverse conditions, including hand shoveling work and navigating on foot while carrying supplies.
Preferred Qualifications for our Cultural Resources Specialist
- Bachelor's degree in archaeology, geology, anthropology or related field
- Cultural Resources Experience
