Database Administrator - Think Tank, Inc.

*Experience working with federal government and live in NY area strongly desired

*Position is Subject to Contract Award

*May work remote with possibility of occasional travel to Brooklyn, NY

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The database administrator will ensure optimal performance, scalability, and availability of database systems. They are responsible for backups, maintenance, and implementing high availability configurations along with ensuring data integrity and security.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, or related field
• 6+ years of experience as a DBA
• Extensive experience in large scale design and implementation projects
• Experience with ETL processes and data warehousing
• Masters in Computer Science, or related field (desired)
• Experience working with education systems or Department of Education (desired)

CERTIFICATIONS:

• Microsoft Certified: Database Administrator Associate or equivalent

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and manage database systems supporting transactional and reporting needs
• Implement data integration strategies with DOE enterprise systems
• Monitor performance, tune queries, and optimize storage
• Enforce data governance, privacy and security protocols
• Manage user access, ensuring only authorized users have access to specific data

SKILLS:

• Proficient working with SQL Server, SSMS, PowerShell, Azure SQL, Azure DevOps
• Strong knowledge of FERPA, Federal Privacy Act and other data privacy standards
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams as well as independently
• Ability to clearly communicate risks, obstacles, and issues
• Excellent analytical skills for monitoring performance and data patterns
