About the Job
Job Summary:
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates, reviewing project specifications, collaborating with project managers and clients, and ensuring that electrical components of projects are completed on time and within budget. This position requires expertise in pump stations, treatment plants, roadway lighting, ITS systems, tolling, and bridges, as well as a deep understanding of electrical design, local codes, and industry standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review the specifications and drawings thoroughly and submit required RFI's.
- Perform a complete take-off electronically based on the provided RFP documentation.
- Acquire project pricing on materials through the proper distribution channels.
- Researching materials, equipment, and labor costs.
- Gathering quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Asses the levels of risk on a project.
- Analyze company data, exchange rates, and prices using software packages.
- Develop an estimate based on a well-defined scope of work & bill of materials.
- Generate a professional and accurate proposal to send out to the client.
- Perform weekly follow-ups with clients pertaining to pending proposals.
- Attend kick-off meeting (virtually) with the operations team after the award of the project.
- Analyze company data, exchange rates and prices using software packages.
- Schedule time to review bids over a certain set amount with applicable Department Vice Presidents and other required personnel.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Formal training with estimating software preferred.
- Experience with Accubid or similar software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (w/advanced Excel skills) with the ability to follow project management software (i.e., Accubid, Bluebeam, Smartsheets) would be a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, MS Project, and Teams.
- Experience in the construction industry a plus.
- Familiar with subcontractor requirements.
- Strong Math aptitude.
Education and Experience:
- High school Diploma or equivalent.
- Degree in business or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must have at least (3) years' of electrical focused experience within the industrial (pump stations & treatment plants), transportation infrastructure (roadway lighting, ITS systems, tolling & bridges), and construction industries etc.
- Individuals preparing for Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI)certifications would be a plus, but not necessary for the utility or electric side.
Physical Requirements:
- Typical standard office environment conditions; sitting, standing, walking, and minimal lifting. The employee may occasionally have to lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.
