General Manager - Sunroad Auto Group
Job Summary:
The General Manager will oversee all operations at the Subaru and Genesis dealership, ensuring both brands are represented with the highest standards of service, sales, and customer experience. This includes managing the sales, service, parts, and finance departments while meeting and exceeding the dealership’s financial goals. The GM will be expected to lead the teams to deliver exceptional customer service for Subaru and Genesis clients, fostering a positive work environment and maintaining strong relationships with Subaru and Genesis corporate partners.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and manage both Subaru and Genesis departments, including sales, service, parts, and administrative functions.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve dealership goals and objectives.
- Hire, train, and evaluate department managers and staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance.
- Oversee the dealership’s financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Analyze financial statements and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive profitability and identify areas for improvement.
- Implement strategies to manage expenses, increase revenue, and achieve sales and profit targets.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to drive vehicle sales and achieve sales targets for both Subaru and Genesis.
- Work with the marketing team to create and implement promotional campaigns and advertising strategies.
- Monitor market trends and adjust sales and marketing strategies to stay competitive and meet customer demands.
- Ensure exceptional customer service across all departments, addressing customer concerns and resolving issues promptly.
- Implement and oversee customer satisfaction programs to enhance the overall customer experience.
- Foster a customer-centric culture within the dealership to build long-term relationships and encourage repeat business.
- Oversee daily dealership operations for both Subaru and Genesis to ensure efficient processes and high standards of quality.
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and dealership standards.
- Manage inventory levels and coordinate with service and parts departments to ensure timely availability and optimal vehicle preparation.
- Provide leadership and support to department managers and staff, including conducting performance reviews and offering professional development opportunities.
- Promote a positive work environment and encourage teamwork and collaboration among staff members.
- Address and resolve employee issues, conflicts, and disciplinary matters in a fair and effective manner.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and dealership policies.
- Maintain a safe and secure work environment by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures.
- Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices to ensure the dealership remains compliant and competitive.
- Represent the dealerships in the community and industry events to enhance visibility and build relationships with customers, vendors, and partners.
- Engage with local organizations and participate in community initiatives to promote the dealership and its offerings.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruit, hire, and train department staff for both Subaru and Genesis.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
- Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
- Manage discipline and termination of employees in alignment with company policies.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have Southern California Subaru experience, including a strong understanding of regional customer preferences, Subaru vehicle knowledge, and dealership operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Automotive Management, or a related field.
- Experience managing a high-volume dealership.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in dealership General Management or Sales Management.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; required to have California driver's license within 10 days following date of hire.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description.

- Excellent financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Proficient in using dealership management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
