Interim Controller
We are currently seeking candidates for an Interim Controller opportunity with a growing life sciences firm located in Waltham, MA. The Interim Controller will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Assistant Corporate Controller, and the Corporate Accounting and Finance teams. The Interim Controller will manage all accounting operations, including preparing financials, overseeing month/quarter/year-end close processes, handling budgeting, and driving process optimization.
This is a 5–6-month contract opportunity that will pay between $85-$95/hour (depending on experience). Candidates must be able to work a hybrid model.

Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting activities, including financial reporting, internal controls, process improvement, and compliance.
- Prepare financial statements, and deliver financial reports and presentations.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Collaborate with external auditors, providing documentation and additional support as needed.
- Assist with tax compliance and coordinate with external tax providers.
- Manage budgeting and present data and analysis to department leaders.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Oversee daily accounting functions, including AP/AR, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Handle treasury responsibilities, including performing covenant reporting and maintaining bank account oversight.
- Maintain and optimize internal controls related to financial transactions and reporting.
- Establish, implement, and monitor financial policies and procedures.
- Attend occasional off-hour events and travel to company locations as needed.
- Provide additional support as needed.
- 10-15+ years of related corporate accounting experience in life sciences, biotech, or related field. Must have strong controllership/leadership experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Required).
- CPA (Preferred).
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite and ERPs.
- Willingness to be “hands-on” and prioritize team needs.
