Lead Windows Engineer

YOUR ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Lead Windows Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team. This role is responsible for providing deep technical expertise in Windows Server and Windows-based enterprise environments. The Windows Lead will lead critical projects, help manage a managed service provider team of engineers, resolve high-level issues, and optimize Windows infrastructure to ensure stability, security, and performance.
What you will be doing
- Windows Server Administration: Oversee and manage Windows Server environments for the duration of the OS lifecycle, including licensing, installation, configuration, hardening, and ongoing maintenance of Windows Server environment on both virtual and physical servers.
- Troubleshooting & Optimization: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to Windows OS, Delegated Group Policy, hardware and drivers and other core infrastructure components. You will review vulnerabilities and assess their risks and mitigating factors.
- Performance management & Security: Implement company and industry best practices for system hardening, patch management, and compliance with security policies and company standards.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation of administrative tasks like reporting as well as leverage Tanium for patch management.
- Incident & Problem Management: Support high-priority incidents, root cause analysis, and implementation of long-term fixes. Work with application and infrastructure teams on issue resolution.
- Project Management: Lead and participate in enterprise-level projects such as OS upgrades, migrations, and system enhancements.
- Regulatory & Audit Support: Work to assure SOP documentation accuracy as well as respond to auditor requests.
- Oversight: You will oversee a team of managed service provider engineers and ensure they are completing tasks, that tasks are completed correctly and on time as well as resolve customer issues.
- Travel & Oncall: Travel is limited <5% and the candidate will not be part of a on-call rotation, however there may be occasional off-hour or weekend work as part of escalations or emergencies.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in Windows Server administration in a medium to large enterprise environment (or equivalent experience).
- Expert knowledge of Windows Server and subsystems including driver management, disk management, iSCSI, fiber channel, TCP/IP, TLS/SSL, certificates and encryption, ACLs and windows registry.
- Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and PowerShell scripting.
- Thorough understanding of current and legacy server hardware, including external storage and RAID, boot from SAN and multipathing.
- Experience with virtualization technologies. Experience in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of security best practices, compliance frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001), and patch management.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Tanium, Scripting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Relevant certifications (MCSE, Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect, VMware VCP) are a plus.

The base salary pay range for this role starts at a minimum rate of $ 91,800 up to the maximum of $181,200. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible to participate in an incentive plan. The incentive plan is based on performance and the target earning opportunity is 10% of your base compensation. The final determination on base pay for this position will be based on multiple factors at the time of this job posting including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity within the organization.
