Position Title: Park Aide - Park Ranger -SPRA
Location: Pollock Pines, CA 95726
Duration: April to September (Assignment duration can change based on EID's needs)
Work Schedule: Multiple shifts (Work assignments are limited in duration (seasonal) and are based on a full-time basis; days and hours will vary with weekend and holiday work required
SUMMARY:
EDUCATION:Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
EXPERIENCE: One year of park maintenance and/or park patrol experience is desirable.
Possession of CPR/First Aid card is desirable.

Licenses and Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license at the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to physical disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

SUMMARY:
- Under supervision, performs patrol of District recreational areas and related facilities to ensure visitor compliance with rules and regulations; performs maintenance and repair of recreational facilities, trails, and waterways; and responds to situations requiring emergency assistance.
- The duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to this class and are not intended to be an inclusive list.
- Patrols parklands, trails, and waterways and enforces District policies and rules related to public use; opens and closes parklands according to seasonal schedule. Completes daily log of activities and other paperwork as assigned.
- Responds to emergencies, taking charge until other agencies, such as law enforcement, fire, or medical services, arrive at the scene; assists other emergency response units, as needed.
- Assists maintenance crews in a variety of maintenance and construction projects.
- Conducts and presents tours of parkland and related facilities.
- Maintains, repairs, and cleans buildings, restrooms, and picnic areas; repairs and maintains signs, campgrounds, and surrounding areas.
- Inspects and maintains trails, including supporting trees and pruning brush to clear trails.
- May operate a variety of watercraft.
- Occasional cash handling, including collecting camping and other use fees, processing same, and performing daily reconciliation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- English usage, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Use and care of various hand and power tools. Use of personal computers and related software applications.
- Ability to read and interpret park rules and regulations.
- Ability to answer a wide variety of questions from park visitors and District staff.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in written format.
- Patrol recreational areas and related facilities on foot and by vehicle to ensure public safety and visitor compliance with rules and regulations and perform maintenance and repair of recreational facilities, trails, and waterways.
- Learn to operate snow removal and light construction equipment. Intermittently sit while studying or preparing reports; bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist when performing park maintenance duties; perform simple and power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation; and lift or carry the weight of 50 pounds or less.
