Job Summary:
This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Muskegon facility, establishing short- and long-range production schedules and ensuring that actual production meets scheduled requirements through efficient functioning of all manufacturing operations. This requires close coordination with interdepartmental roles such as supply chain, human resources, materials management, etc. This position manages resources, manpower, equipment and materials to help ensure the above is consistently accomplished.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review, evaluate and improve performance of Production Supervisors which directly report to this position.
- Plan, organize and coordinate production schedules to meet customer demands.
- Takes all necessary action to eliminate delays and ensure adherence to production and shipping schedules.
- Improve productivity and efficiency; collaborate with supply chain for timely procurement.
- Optimize resource allocation, minimize costs and conduct capacity planning.
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiency; implement Lean Manufacturing and/or improvement methodologies.
- Work closely with EHS Manager/Coordinator and other departments to ensure compliance with regulations and safety protocols.
- Utilize customer requirement input data from order entry, provide manufacturing or vendors with shipping schedules, material requirements, and overall product delivery priorities.
- Prepare production analysis charts, job and machine load forecasts and labor forecasts.
- Analyze customer delivery lead times versus product manufacturing cycle times utilizing techniques such as critical path analysis to reduce cycle times by working closely with materials management department.
- Supports human resources with payroll and attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Education, Experience and Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration or an equivalent of 6 or more years of relevant experience in planning, manufacturing, ordering procedures and production operations.
- Should have a broad knowledge of principles of accounting, engineering, manufacturing and sales.
- Knowledge of ERP systems as well as personal computers required (excel, word, PowerPoint, etc).
- Must be able to interact and communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with people at all levels of the organization and foster teamwork.
- Critical thinking and analytical aptitude are essential.
- Able to analyze data thoroughly and accurately.
- Must have ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environment, handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control and supply chain management needed.
- Stand, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, and safely work in manufacturing environment.
- May have to lift occasionally up to 40 pounds with full mobility.
