The Quality Assurance Chief is responsible for overseeing the implementation and maintenance of food safety and quality programs in compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and third-party audits. This role leads the Quality team in monitoring production processes, conducting inspections, and ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and GFSI standards (SQF).

The Quality Assurance Chief is responsible for overseeing the implementation and maintenance of food safety and quality programs in compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and third-party audits. This role leads the Quality team in monitoring production processes, conducting inspections, and ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and GFSI standards (SQF).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities.
- Supervise daily quality operations, ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee product testing, environmental monitoring, and documentation of quality checks.
- Lead and train quality control technicians on food safety protocols, GMPs, and quality control procedures.
- Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and deviations, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, FSMA, USDA, FDA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist in internal and external audits, including GFSI certification, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Work closely with production, sanitation, and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement in quality and safety.
- Maintain accurate records, including batch records, COAs, and verification logs.
- Support traceability programs.
- Monitor compliance with labeling, product specifications, and raw material quality.
- Lead mock recalls and ensure proper execution of recall procedures if needed.
- Perform other duties and requirements as assigned.
Qualifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- bi-lingual Spanish / English required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience writing and managing food safety plans.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- HACCP certified (preferred).
- SQF Practitioner or GFSI experience a plus.
- PCQI certified or willing to become certified.
