Senior Laboratory Supervisor - 2nd shift at Simple Laboratories

Simple Laboratories is looking for a Senior Laboratory Supervisor to direct personnel and perform the daily activities of the laboratory, including tests in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Immunology/Serology. This position is located in Jackson Park Hospital.

Successful candidates should feel comfortable working with specimens and can work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, while serving as the point of contact for questions and issues.

This is a Full Time position. Scheduled hours 4pm - 12AM.

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis and reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
2. Conduct chemical analysis of bodily fluids, such as blood and urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases, and enter findings into the computer.
3. Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
4. Operate laboratory equipment and instruments; record data and maintain equipment.
5. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
6. Use universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from bio-hazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for supervising laboratory personnel, conducting and overseeing quality assurance and quality control, and collecting, analyzing, and interpreting lab results.
2. Duties include managing workload, staffing, and laboratory personnel, implementing new procedures, methods, and instruments, and ensuring all training, accreditation, and competency standards are met.
3. Help organize and direct the daily activities of the laboratory under the guidance of the Laboratory Director.
4. Perform high-quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision from the Laboratory Director.
5. Interact professionally with other colleagues on all assignments.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. MT, MLT degree or equivalent.
2. Bachelor’s Degree in a Chemical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology program preferred.
3. Minimum of three (3) years laboratory experience in high complexity testing.
