Position Overview:
- The Technical Event Support Specialist ensures the seamless operation of IT and technology systems for Company Events.
- Involves setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting event-specific IT infrastructure, including networking, audiovisual (AV) systems, and other technical resources.
- The ideal consultant is a proactive problem solver with exceptional IT expertise and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with production staff and the network infrastructure team to plan and set up temporary IT infrastructure for events, including network switches, cabling, Wi-Fi SSID configuration, and outdoor or non-traditional event spaces.
- Support and troubleshoot network connectivity for event-critical systems, such as AV equipment and point-of-sale devices.
- Serve as an on-call technician during performances to promptly resolve IT-related issues and ensure seamless operations for guests, performers, and staff.
- Work closely with stage crews, event production staff, and the network infrastructure team to ensure uninterrupted network and device performance, addressing IT needs clearly and effectively.
- Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance on venue-specific IT systems and devices to ensure readiness for future performances.
- Maintain and document inventories and technical specifications for event-specific IT equipment, including switches, cables, mobile devices, and point-of-sale devices.
- Provide technical support and training to event staff on IT systems and equipment, creating clear internal and external-facing documentation as needed.
- Advocate for end-user needs by incorporating feedback into service improvement plans.
- Collaborate with outsourced and remote Level 1 Service Desk operations to ensure effective escalation and seamless coordination with onsite staff.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of experience in IT support, preferably in an event or performance production environment.
- Proven expertise in Windows and macOS environments, networking concepts, and event management platforms.
- Proficiency in network troubleshooting, including VLANs, Wi-Fi configuration, and DHCP.
- Familiarity with enterprise networks and wireless systems, including related hardware and software solutions.
- Experience with audiovisual systems and their integration with IT networks.
- Experience with tools like Microsoft Intune, Jamf, or other mobile device management (MDM) solutions is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CompTIA Network+ Certification.
- Experience with project management tools and software.
- Prior experience in a performing arts organization.
- Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and enhancing the user experience.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with non-technical staff and external vendors.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
